"I have dental anxiety when visiting to the dental office anywhere. Dr. Chang and Jill really understand my situation. I have planned not to visit anymore to any dental offices because they don't understand me. I finally found Luminous Dental Studio for their caring and understanding for who am I."- A.D. / Google / Sep 24, 2019
"When I had my first appointment with Dr. Kim at Luminous Dental Studio, I was instantly reassured that I picked the right dentist to work with my family. He was kind and listened to my concerns about my dental anxieties. With his gentle chairside manner, Dr. Kim was easy to talk. I had some extensive work done that most dentist would rush me through, but when things didn’t go as planned... Dr. Kim kept working through it while making sure I was comfortable. Their state-of-the-art technology is really great too. The intraoral camera displayed my dental concerns front and center in the treatment room on a big screen. It was a great dental experience even though they are never easy for me. Thanks Dr. Kim. Oh, and he made sure to check up on me after my lengthy appointment to make sure I was ok... that’s awesome."- S.C. / Google / Aug 23, 2019

I’m very optimistic for future visits(this is a first for me)! Dr. Kim listened to my concerns, questions, and statements regarding my dental anxiety and took them into account my entire appointment. This made me feel more comfortable and helped me to get through the appointment with more ease than I have ever had."- E.F. / Google / Jul 14, 2019

Best Candidates for IV Sedation
The best candidates for IV sedation may be patients experiencing anxiety about undergoing a dental treatment. Patients who will be undergoing extensive procedures may also opt for IV sedation versus local anesthesia. This sedation dentistry method helps you to receive the dental care you need without discomfort or fear. Prior to choosing IV sedation, one of our skilled dentists will speak with you about the various sedation options our practice provides.
What To Expect with IV Sedation
For IV sedation, a small needle will be inserted into your vein and the medicine will be administered intravenously. You will begin to feel the effects of the medication within a few seconds and may become sleepy. At this time, our dental team will begin to perform your procedures while our anesthesiologist monitors your IV levels. When the procedure is complete, the IV will be removed and you will feel awake within a few minutes.
IV Sedation Recovery
It is advised that you do not drive for at least 24 hours following IV sedation. You should arrange for someone to pick you up from our office and take you home. You may feel tired for the rest of the day so we recommend that you drink a lot of water to stay hydrated and rest if at all possible. In some cases, you could become nauseous or experience memory loss. These side effects will typically diminish within a day. If you experience any abnormalities or if your symptoms persist, you should contact our office immediately.
IV Sedation Insurance Coverage
IV sedation may or may not be covered in part by your dental insurance. Prior to receiving the sedation, our financial team will contact your insurance provider to determine any additional out-of-pocket costs. Luminous Dental Studio also provides financial planning and payment options to make treatments more affordable for most of our patients.
Going to the dentist should be enjoyable or at least a tolerable experience. With IV sedation, you can experience less anxiety when visiting the dentist. Luminous Dental Studio is happy to offer this solution so that you can undergo dental treatments with comfort and less fear.
